Reformer Pilates Studio prepared for class

What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a low-impact, full-body workout performed on a specialized machine called the Reformer. It uses springs, pulleys, and a sliding carriage to provide resistance, helping to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and posture. Unlike mat Pilates, the Reformer offers added support and challenges, making it suitable for all fitness levels.

What Happens in Your First Reformer Pilates Class?

1. Warm-Up and Introduction

Your instructor will begin with a gentle warm-up to prepare your body and explain how the Reformer machine works. You’ll learn about the different springs and settings tailored to your fitness level. At Pure Motion, our certified instructors provide personalized attention to ensure your form and technique are correct, reducing the risk of injury and maximizing results.

2. Basic Movements and Exercises

The Beginner’s class will focus on foundational exercises that activate your core muscles and build awareness of your body alignment. Expect slow, controlled movements that engage your entire body.

3.  Breathing and Mind-Body Connection

Breathing is a key component of Pilates. You’ll learn how to coordinate your breath with movement, helping to increase concentration, relaxation, and overall effectiveness.

4. Cool Down and Stretch

The class will end with a calming cool-down session, including stretches to release tension and improve flexibility.
